Due to the close proximity of location and development timelines for Qatargas 3 and Qatargas 4, the two projects are being jointly developed by an integrated team to capture synergies available in resources, contractors and staff.
The Joint Asset development Team (JADT) is jointly executing the development of the Qatargas 3 and Qatargas 4 offshore and onshore assets. The JADT leverages the expertise of the shareholders and combines it with experienced oil and gas professionals from around the world.
The JADT has successfully completed the initial appraisal drilling program with plans in place for the next phase of drilling. A total of 33 development wells will be drilled as well as the construction and installation of three new platforms and two new 38” diameter offshore pipelines. It is expected that the new development area in the North Field will produce 2.8 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day to deliver approximately 15.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum plus substantial volumes of condensate and liquefied petroleum gas.
Most of the major contracts have now been let by the JADT with Chiyoda Technip Joint Venture being the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the two onshore LNG trains development and J.Ray McDermott engineering, constructing and installing the offshore platforms. The line pipe for the pipelines has been ordered from Mitsui. The award of the pipeline installation contract is still pending.
